Reflective Summary
Digital Design and Animation ll is an elaborate class that thoroughly demonstrates and explains the various techniques of 3d modeling in specific software for beginners. There are many different units in this class that introduces new topics and provides notes and additional information about how certain techniques work. Throughout each topic you are given an assignment to get familiar with and test your ability and understanding of it. It's all about trying new things and getting familiar with the various concepts that you go over. There are tutorials, and many other resources to find out exactly how to do something and receive a visual so it may make more sense. Also, in this class you are given a little bit of freedom to explore and test out different things with the software provided when things seem a little confusing or you just need more practice with it. There is also always someone to help and give feedback.
Section 1: Professionalism in Digital Art
Unit A - Professionalism
Critique Review
When giving someone a critique your showing them the pros and cons of their work. You give them advice on how to improve and what was working. It also helps give your perspective and share what you did, it could then start a conversation. When receiving advice you get help and feedback to help you do better next time. It helps you understand the necessary, the unnecessary, and the overall look of it.

Section 2 : Creating Models with Advanced Modeling Techniques
Unit B - Advanced Modeling
Reflection
Advanced modeling techniques help the user expand their use of objects and try to manipulate different objects to get a desired outcome. Using advanced modeling techniques teaches you how to change the dimensions and the different vertexes; it just helps you manipulate the models shape into something new, different, and more fitting. Parametric modeling lets you change an objects geometry which can help to put different designs on your object.
Compound objects are like simple shapes that can work as tools to help you if your a beginner. You can change the form of the shape, merge it with another, and just mess around with them. They can be changed into another object depending on what you do to it. All of these tools can help you change shapes and their geometry by just slightly changing their composition..

When making these pieces I used a lot of Boolean techniques which subtracted one object from the other. I also had to used text and simple primitives to make the various shapes.
Particles in Game Development
Particles are used in Game Development by spreading out or duplicating an object that can multiply to make many objects or to make something appear "fluffy." It involved multiple sprites. They could be used to make the pricks on a cactus or the snow in a scene. Simulating in Game Development can mean the process of animating, and programming.

This scene has a tree with a lot of leaves on it. To save time, the person probably used the particle system to spread the leaves throughout the branches on the tree.

Section 3 : Applying Materials, Shaders and Rendering Techniques
Unit C - Shaders and Renderers
Aesthetic Reflection
It is very important to use materials for objects so it can complete the model and add more detail. It creates a setting. Creating a map on a model can make the texture you put on the model customizable and more accurate if it doesn't look right. Shaders are some of the properties different materials can have. So these all help define the point of your scene.

When making these models I learned how to use a UV map to adjust the way my textures went onto the objects and I learned how to use multiple textures for one model.
The Importance of Rendering
It is very important to choose a correct render for a scene because you want everything to correspond and make sense. You want to set the mood of your scene and make it recognizable what you are trying to convey. And when you render an image you want the render to come out clearly. And when turning 3d models into images you can create different effects on the image. This is where you will be able to place the different shaders, textures, cameras, and lighting. It gives the audience a glance of what your scene is and what you want them to see.

Section 4 : Working with Lighting
Unit D - Lighting
Reflection
Lighting is extremely important when rendering your scene because it sets a mood. When you have a darker scene it creates more caution and gives the sense that it is a later time of day. Lighter scenes creates more of a calm state and gives the sense that it is an earlier time of day. Lighting also brings focus to a scene or just a specific part of it. It grabs the audiences' attention. Shadows are also very important because it can block out or show which direction the light is coming from. It is a major part of creating and rendering a scene.

In the process of making these scenes I put my items on a plane and textured my objects. Afterwards, I added a free light to both of the scenes.
Section 5 : Using Cameras to Animate a Scene
Unit E - Cameras
Reflection
Cameras are an extremely important part of your scene because they are in the position people look at our model. There are lots of different ways to apply a camera to get certain effects or reactions. There are lots of ways to show a model with a camera like with different camera shots and angles which give different views of the scene. It greatly effects how someone perceives the shot. It may make them feel intimidated or highly intrigued and powerful. Cameras can also make the audience feel some type of way just by moving it to a certain position.
